Plaid Kitchen Curtains

There’s a lot of confusion between plaid kitchen curtains and gingham curtains. This is understandable because both styles use a checkered tartan pattern. This is where the similarities end and although they are both woven in crossbarred pattern they are two unique styles. Plaid originated in the United Kingdom notably Scotland but this beautiful pleated fabric managed to become very popular in the United States. What originally started out as clothing fashion has progressed to interior design fashion particularly curtains. A kitchen with plaid curtains is a very elegant look. Plaid is readily available online and in department stores. A matching tablecloth or plaid apron are also a fashion statement of their own. And who says who can’t be fashionable in our own kitchens.

Buchanan plaid is a style that uses blue, red, green and a little yellow. And it’s very lovely indeed and on a lovely white window a plaid valance can look remarkably stunning. The symmetric lines result in a clean and neat looking style. This kind of design would look great in the largest and smallest of kitchens. And would look marvelous in traditional as well as contemporary kitchens. A color theme with shades of brown like the cinnamon plaid curtain below is equally beautiful. Notice the plaid tiebacks, they make the entire appearance of the curtain that much lovelier. An all dark gray plaid curtain with burgundy lines is also splendid and something like that in a black kitchen would just about impress anyone. There are so many colors that it’s simply too difficult to decide on which looks the best. I wish anyone luck who can easily choose one style over the other.

Ideally we would want them all but realistically we can only have one. So how can we choose the right kind of pleated fabric and plaid colors for our kitchen window. Following the basics of interior design we would have to pick colors that would go best with our kitchen furniture. The color of the wall will be factored in but cabinet colors are more of a priority. Country kitchens irrespective of color will look great in just about any plaid color. Then again a country kitchen design is flexible enough that you can just about put any type of curtain up and it will look good. More sophisticated, modern and stylish kitchens such as ones with stainless steel appliances and tile walls will undoubtedly look better with plaid patterns that use two and at most three colors. Dark colors will also bring out the best in stainless steel appliances. The same is not necessarily true for white appliances because you can complement white with light or dark colored plaids. Although lighter colors will look just a tad bit more appropriate. Plaid kitchen curtains are very fashionable and will look great regardless of the kitchen theme. Your decision will be to simply find the best colors to match the rest of your kitchen.
