Granite is perhaps one of the best materials used for counter tops. It is very strong, you don’t have to worry about stains or it breaking. It makes preparing food so much easier and when it comes to cleaning it, well let’s just say it’s a breeze. Unfortunately many home owners lucked because they either don’t know about the benefits of granite or perhaps it was too costly for them at the time. I chose the latter and not solely because of the cost but also for over all design and the benefits that come with owning a kitchen island. I also had enough space in the middle of the kitchen so for my situation it was the perfect solution. The thing is when it comes to shopping, you can be totally lost because the choices and brands are very overwhelming. Being new to all of this I had to conclude why I wanted to get as in what did I want to accomplish with it. First I wanted to make food preparation simpler, secondly I wanted cleaning up after wards to be easier as well. Lastly I need a counter area where I had enough space to prepare the foods that I eat. This included rolling dough for my pizza, previously I used either the counter or even the kitchen table. Yes, you can say I managed but each and every time I knew it was a temporary solution. Granite kitchen islands will give you the space you need and to maneuver around them is the best part. You can be at any angle and continue to prepare you food, that is one of the benefits of having them.
My decision was should I buy one that is mobile or one that was stationary. Mobile one is much more efficient because you can move it all around the kitchen, but I really didn’t care about that. I wanted a base to prepare my foods and a stationary granite top kitchen island was more than sufficient. Another reason for for sturdiness and also of course because I felt my kitchen looked best with one permanently stationed in the middle of the floor. Other people might however might not have the space on the floor and will have to opt for something that is on wheels. Either way it is a win-win situation because they both styles have their own benefits.
